Why turn a PNG into JPG?

PNG is useful when you need transparency or lossless graphics, but it is not always the most practical format for photographs. A JPG can be easier to share and can take up less space when the image contains lots of colour and detail. This tool is useful when a website, form or app asks for JPG, or when you want a smaller photo file and do not need transparency.

Convert your PNG in three steps

  1. Choose or drag a PNG image into the converter.
  2. Set the JPG quality. The default is a sensible starting point for most images.
  3. Select Convert to JPG and download the result.

What happens to transparent areas?

JPG does not support transparency. If the source PNG contains transparent pixels, the converter places them on a white background before creating the JPG. If keeping transparency matters, stay with PNG or use a format that supports it.

Choosing the quality setting

There is no single perfect number for every image. Higher quality usually keeps more fine detail but creates a larger file. Lower quality can save more space, although compression marks may become visible if you push it too far. For an important photo, compare the converted image with the original before deleting anything.

Private browser-based processing

Your PNG is processed locally in the browser and is not uploaded to EivoTech. The plugin also does not save a copy on the website server.

File limits

The converter accepts PNG images up to 25 MB and up to 30 megapixels. Very large images can use a lot of memory in a browser, so these limits help keep the tool reliable on desktop and mobile devices.

Questions people often have

Will the JPG always be smaller?

Not always, but it often is for photographs. The result depends on the source image and the quality setting you choose.

Can I get the transparent background back later?

Not from the JPG alone. Once transparency has been replaced with a solid background in the JPG, that transparency information is no longer stored in the file.

Does converting resize the image?

No. This converter keeps the original pixel dimensions.

Is any software required?

No. The conversion runs in a compatible modern web browser.
