WebP is useful when file size matters

WebP is widely used on modern websites because it can keep good visual quality while reducing image weight. It is especially useful when you are preparing photos or graphics for a site and want to cut page size without making the image look obviously degraded. The exact result still depends on the source file, so the converter shows the original and converted sizes instead of promising a fixed saving.

How to create a WebP image

  1. Choose a JPG, JPEG or PNG image, or drag it into the tool.
  2. Adjust the WebP quality if you want to trade a little detail for a smaller file.
  3. Select Convert to WebP, review the size change and download the file.

What quality should you use?

The default 88% is a balanced place to start, not a rule. Photos with lots of texture may need a higher setting, while simple web images can sometimes look fine at a lower one. If the image is going on an important page, check it at the size people will actually see it.

What happens to PNG transparency?

When your browser supports WebP encoding, transparent areas from a PNG can be preserved. A JPG has no transparency to carry over.

No image upload

The conversion happens locally in your browser. EivoTech does not receive the source image and the plugin does not store a server copy. For larger images, the work is done using your device memory, so older phones or computers may take a little longer.

Supported images and limits

This tool accepts JPG, JPEG and PNG files up to 25 MB and up to 30 megapixels. WebP output also depends on the browser having WebP encoding support.

Before you replace the original

Keep the source image if it is important. WebP can be excellent for delivery on the web, but your original JPG or PNG may still be the better master file for future editing.

Quick answers

Will every WebP be smaller?

No. Some already-optimized source images can produce a similar or even larger file. The size comparison shown after conversion tells you what happened with your image.

Does WebP reduce image dimensions?

No. This converter changes the format and compression, not the width or height.

Can I convert a transparent PNG?

Yes, on browsers that support WebP encoding with transparency.

Do I have to sign up?

No. There is no account requirement for this converter.
