See what information an image carries
An image file contains more than the pixels you see. Basic properties such as dimensions and file size are always useful, while some JPEG photos also contain EXIF metadata written by a camera or phone. That can include the camera model, date taken, exposure details or editing software.
How to inspect an image
- Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image.
- Check the basic file information shown after loading.
- Select Read metadata to look for additional fields.
Why metadata may be missing
Many messaging apps, social networks, screenshot tools and image editors remove metadata when they export or share a file. So an empty EXIF result does not mean the tool is broken; the information may simply no longer be present in the file.
What this viewer reads
For JPEG files, the tool looks for a practical set of common EXIF fields such as camera maker and model, date taken, orientation, software, exposure time, aperture, ISO and focal length. It is not intended to replace a forensic metadata suite and does not claim to expose every possible proprietary tag.
A privacy note about metadata
Metadata can reveal details you did not mean to share. Before publishing an original photo, it can be useful to check what is present. This viewer performs the inspection locally and does not upload the image to EivoTech.
Common questions
Does this tool remove metadata?
No. It only reads information. A separate metadata-removal tool would be needed to create a cleaned copy.
Does it show GPS location?
This first version focuses on common non-location EXIF fields and does not display GPS coordinates.
Why do PNG and WebP show less information?
The built-in parser in this version focuses on common JPEG EXIF. Basic file details are still shown for PNG and WebP.
